What We Do

Although we need to “stop the bad,” we also need to “grow the good.”

The Problem

Everyday there is another news story about toxic chemicals and their impacts on humans and the environment. Advancing solutions that minimize such impacts requires two forces: (1) reducing the production use and disposal of toxic chemicals and (2) enhancing the supply and adoption of safer and more sustainable chemicals. Although successful advocacy campaigns are forcing major brands and retailers to act on toxic chemicals, there remains a lack of commercially available safer and more sustainable alternatives. Although we need to “stop the bad,” we also need to “grow the good.” Accelerating the development, commercialization and scale of safer and more sustainable chemicals and technologies requires strategies that effectively leverage research and innovation activities, new policy models, c-suite commitments, and global value chain collaboration.

Our Mission

Our mission is to reduce the impacts of toxic chemicals by driving growth in safer and sustainable chemistries. We achieve this through expanding the field of alternatives assessment; developing innovative policies to advance green and sustainable chemistry; and analyzing and developing strategies to address barriers and enablers.
